The Civic Salon

The Civic Salon emerged as a “pop-up” community gathering space in January, 2017, intended to help incubate a more empathic, democratic, and resilient community.  Starting with a few events, we invited the community to use the Salon to initiate and convene additional activities that upheld principles of mutual respect, compassion, civic engagement and social justice.

Events included:

• Community Game Nights with Better World Books
• Asset mapping work sessions
• A community Open Space
• Conversation Cafes and dialogues on health care and immigration
• Immigration resource presentations
• Community potlucks and fundraisers
• Trainings on dialogic process and community organizing
